Eaton’s Vickers hydraulic products are extensively used across multiple sectors, including earthmoving machinery, agriculture, construction, aviation, mining, forestry, public utilities, and material handling. Whether it’s for heavy-duty construction equipment, agricultural machinery, or complex aviation systems, Vickers components are designed to meet the demanding needs of modern industries. Their durability and performance make them a preferred choice for businesses looking for dependable hydraulic solutions.

The Vickers Zibo leaf pump is a well-known hydraulic pump used in various industrial applications. It is primarily available in two types: the Vickers single vane pump and the Vickers double vane pump. Each type serves specific functions and is designed for optimal performance in hydraulic systems.

Vickers Single Vane Pump

The Vickers single vane pump is a reliable hydraulic pump featuring key components like a rotor, stator, vanes, oil pan, and end cap. The rotor is placed off-centre within the stator’s cylindrical inner surface, creating varying distances between them.

The vanes, which slide within grooves in the rotor, are pushed outward by centrifugal force and hydraulic pressure, maintaining contact with the stator. This design forms sealed working chambers between the vanes, rotor, and stator.

As the rotor spins counterclockwise, the right-side chambers expand, drawing hydraulic fluid into the pump, while the left-side chambers contract, pushing the fluid out into the system. This single suction and discharge cycle per rotor revolution classifies it as a single-acting pump.

The pump operates with radial hydraulic unbalance, which experiences unbalanced forces during operation, placing a load on the bearings. Additionally, the pump’s displacement can be adjusted by changing the eccentricity between the rotor and stator, allowing it to adapt to different flow needs.

Vickers Double Vane Pump

The Vickers double vane pump works similarly to a single-acting vane pump but with a more complex stator design. The stator and rotor are concentric, and as the rotor turns clockwise, the sealed working chambers expand in the upper left and lower right corners, creating suction, while they contract in the lower left and upper right corners, pushing fluid out.

Each chamber completes the suction and discharge cycle twice per rotor revolution, making it a double-acting pump. The pump has two symmetrically balanced suction zones and two pressure zones, reducing wear and improving efficiency.

This design makes Vickers double vane pumps ideal for industrial applications. They provide consistent flow and pressure, handle high loads, and operate with minimal vibration and noise, making them perfect for hydraulic systems in machinery, automotive, and manufacturing sectors.

Key Points for Managing a Vane Pump

Vickers vane pump uses vanes in a rotor groove that makes contact with the pump housing to move liquid from the inlet side to the discharge side. Proper management of a vane pump involves several important factors:

  • Avoid Dry Running and Overloading: To prevent damage, ensure the pump is always lubricated and not subjected to excessive loads.
  • Prevent Air Suction and High Vacuum: To maintain efficient operation, avoid air entering the system and ensure the suction vacuum is not too high.

  • Pay Attention to Pump Rotation: The pump’s rotation direction affects the fluid flow direction. Vane pumps are designed with a specific rotation in mind, as the rotor grooves are tilted, and the vanes have chamfers suited to this design.

  • Clearance and Oil Viscosity: For small pumps, the clearance should be between 0.015 and 0.03mm, and for medium-sized pumps, it should be between 0.02 and 0.045mm. The oil temperature should not exceed 55°C, and the oil viscosity should be between 17 and 37 37mm²/s to ensure proper lubrication and prevent leakage.

  • Assembly Considerations: During assembly, the vane, rotor, and oil plate must be correctly positioned. The suction area of the stator, which is prone to wear, can be rotated to become the discharge area to extend the pump’s service life.

A Comprehensive Guide To Choosing The Right Proportional Valve

Proportional valves are perfect when adjusting flow rates while maintaining a steady inlet pressure. A proportional solenoid valve controls flow based on the input signal, similar to how a dimmer switch adjusts light intensity, unlike an on/off switch. explore A Comprehensive Guide to Choosing the  Right Proportional Valve  With Shriank. Inlet Pressure The pressure of the fluid entering the valve is important for its operation. A proportional solenoid valve needs a stable inlet pressure with only slight changes. If the inlet pressure is too low, the flow through the valve may be insufficient. On the other hand, if the pressure is too high, it can damage the valve parts and cause problems like leaks or unstable flow. Following the recommended pressure levels helps keep the valve working safely and effectively. Proportional valves  are perfect when adjusting flow rates while maintaining a steady inlet pressure.
